Are You Handy? You Can Win up to $3,000 in This WD-40 Contest
Are you handy around the house? Do you know your way around a can of WD-40?
If the answer is “yes,” you should shoot a video or take a photograph of yourself fixing something. Send it to WD-40, and you could win money or gear. The company is holding a contest where the top 10 prize winners earn at least $1,000 apiece.
The grand prize winner of the “Repair It, Don’t Replace It” Challenge will win $3,000. Second place gets you $2,500, third place wins $2,000, and fourth place wins $1,500. Not only that, but the fifth- through 10th-place winners will each receive a $1,000 Lowe’s gift card.
Even if you don’t make the top 10, another 10 contest entrants will win WD-40 brand Yeti coolers, and nine more will win Yeti travel mugs. There will also be 11 weekly sweepstakes drawings for Yeti water bottles.
The contest started this week and runs through July 17. So you have a little time to plan this out. You can also enter the contest more than once.
“To enter this contest, use your ingenuity and skills and show us how you repair any item in need of a little TLC,” the contest’s webpage says. You can see what other contest entrants are doing in this photo gallery. They’re fixing everything from run-down cars to rusty hinges.
How to Enter the Contest
Step 1: Register by entering your email address or by using your Facebook or Google account.
Step 2: Choose a title for your project, then explain it in the “description” section. You can also choose the contest’s step-by-step format to outline specific stages of the project. That might increase your odds. According to the contest’s webpage, more detail is better.
Step 3: Using the “Load media file” button, upload photos or videos of your project in progress. With the step-by-step format, you can attach a photo or a video with each step.
Step 4: After you submit your project, you’ll receive an email asking you to confirm that this is your entry.
Step 5: You’ll be notified via email if your submission has been accepted into the contest. Approved submissions will be featured on the contest’s gallery page for public viewing. (You can check out the gallery to see what kinds of things other contest entrants are doing.)
Step 6: Accepted submissions are automatically eligible for entry into the weekly sweepstakes drawing and the judged prizes.
Basically, the more entries you submit, the more chances you have to win.
The contest rules don’t say so, but we’re betting your odds will improve if you happen to use some WD-40 during your repair job.
Just call it a hunch.
