Dollar General Announces Plans to Fill Management Jobs in 44 States
Dollar General has always been known as the place to stretch your buck, and now it seems like the place to earn a few, too.
The American discount chain announced plans to create approximately 7,000 jobs in fiscal year 2018. It currently has around 15,000 retail locations and 15 distribution centers, with plans to open 900 new stores this year.
To facilitate this growth plan, Dollar General is on a hiring spree for management positions in the 44 states in which it operates. The company’s careers page currently has hundreds of positions listed for stores, distribution centers and the corporate office.
Management Positions Available at Dollar General
In particularly high demand are candidates who can fill the following roles: retail district manager, retail region director, distribution center assistant director and distribution center supervisor.
Qualifications vary for these highly sought after roles. Some require a bachelor’s, while others list a degree as “preferred” but require several years of relevant experience. And while none of the jobs list pay, Glassdoor salaries indicate they range from around $70,000 to more than six figures.
Dollar General’s careers page also shows a high amount of store manager positions available. Interested applicants for this role need a high school diploma, and can expect to earn around $40,000, according to Glassdoor.
While this isn’t Dollar General’s first hiring rodeo — the company created more than 50,000 jobs over the last decade, according to a press release — filling these new roles could be more difficult than the company would like. The labor market is hot right now, with more job openings than job seekers in the U.S. labor force for the first time since the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics started tracking the data in 2007.
That being said, Dollar General is a big name and showed a 33% increase in earnings in its first fiscal quarter of 2018.
