System1 agreed to a $2.5 million settlement to resolve claims it failed to get consumer consent before enrolling them in automatic renewal subscriptions.
The settlement benefits Californians enrolled in and charged for an unrefunded automatic renewal or continuous service subscription for PC Protect, ScanGuard, Total Adblock, TotalAV, Total Password, Total VPN or Total WebShield software between Oct. 20, 2019, and June 30, 2024.
According to the auto-renewal class action lawsuit, System1 failed to present the terms of its automatic-renewal subscriptions in a clear and conspicuous manner. This failure allegedly violated California’s automatic renewal law and caused consumers to pay for unwanted subscription charges.

$2.2M Meridian Heights Apartments class action settlement
Meridian Heights agreed to pay $2.2 million to resolve claims its Washington, D.C., apartments were uninhabitable due to vermin, mold and other problems.
The settlement benefits individuals who signed a lease or made a rent payment for an apartment at Meridian Heights Apartments in Washington, D.C., between April 4, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2024, and experienced one or more housing code violations during their tenancy.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim their Meridian Heights apartments were uninhabitable due to mold, rodents, insects and other problems that violated Washington, D.C., housing codes. The tenants also claim that, by forcing them to live in these conditions, Meridian Heights violated its lease agreements.

$150M Chevy Bolt battery defect class action settlement
General Motors and LG Electronics agreed to pay $150 million to resolve claims that the companies equipped Chevrolet Bolt vehicles with defective batteries that could cause fires.
The settlement benefits individuals who purchased or leased a 2017-2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV built and shipped to a dealer on or before Aug. 19, 2021.
According to the class action lawsuit, the battery defect in Chevy Bolt vehicles can cause fires and require costly repairs. Despite being aware of the defect, GM and LG allegedly failed to warn consumers about the problem or take financial responsibility for related damages.
