How to Make Money Visiting the IKEA Store
An IKEA store opened near our house about a year and a half ago and ever since then I have been obsessed. It’s about 350,000 square feet of inexpensive cookware and modern decor. I’d be lying if I said I had been there less than 10 times in the past year. So it goes without saying that this IKEA manaic was rather excited to discover a way that I could make some extra money just by browsing the store.
If you have never tried mystery shopping before than this might be a great place to get your feet wet. A company called Cirrus Marketing is hiring people to evaluate IKEA stores around the country and they are paying $60 per store visited.
The job entails that you pose as a secret shopper and spend 2-4 hours browsing each department and taking notes of the cleanliness and organization. You are also required to ask each department’s employee a specific question and then record their responses. As an added bonus, they also ask that you evaluate the food court by making a small purchase. This shop does not reimburse you for your purchase so it’s best to get something small. The meatballs are always popular!
At the end of the assignment you will need to fill out a report and send it back to Cirrus. Please be aware that this a rather large mystery shop and the report contains more than 100 questions. The company evaluates IKEA stores every month so if you can’t evaluate one this month, you can accept the job at a later date.
I evaluated my local store in July and it took me about 4 hours to complete and fill out my report. I can confirm that I did receive my check for $60, although it took about 60 days to receive from the time I submitted my report.
