RealPage Utility Management fees $1.8M class action settlement
RealPage Utility Management agreed to pay $1.8 million to resolve claims it violated Maryland law by acting as an unauthorized collections agency.
The settlement benefits consumers who received a RealPage Utility Management utility usage statement for a Maryland residence that included an administrative fee between April 1, 2017, and June 30, 2023.
According to the class action lawsuit, RealPage sent monthly statements that included balances for unlawful administrative fees. Plaintiffs claim that, through these statements, RealPage acted as an unlicensed collections agency in violation of Maryland law.
The deadline to submit a claim with the settlement is Sept. 2, 2024.
Bosch home appliances $2M class action settlement
Bosch agreed to pay $2 million to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming its defective home appliances suffered from control panel failure.
The settlement benefits consumers who purchased, acquired as part of a home purchase or remodel, or received as a gift certain Bosch ovens and microwaves (model numbers HBL5751UC, HBL8751UC, HBLP751UC, HMC80151UC, HMC80251UC or HMC87151UC).
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Bosch’s microwaves and ovens were defective due to subpar control panels. These control panels allegedly suffered from a technical defect, causing them to fade, dim and fail over time.
The deadline to submit a claim with the settlement to receive Tier 1(a) benefits is Sept. 3, 2024.
Direct Express $1.2M class action settlement
Direct Express operators agreed to pay $1.2 million to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it mishandled fraud claims.
The settlement benefits Direct Express account holders who submitted claims for fraudulent transactions between Feb. 12, 2018, and Sept. 28, 2022, that Conduent and/or Comerica denied.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Conduent and Comerica mishandled fraud claims from Direct Express cardholders. These unlawful claim denials allegedly violated the Electronic Funds Transfer Act.

TaxAct privacy violations $14.95M class action settlement
TaxAct.com agreed to pay $14.95 million to resolve allegations its DIY tax website shared private information with third parties, such as Meta and Google.
The settlement benefits individuals who filed a tax return using a TaxAct tax filing product between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2022.
According to the privacy class action lawsuit, TaxAct shared sensitive personal and financial information from consumer tax forms without user consent. The company allegedly shared this information with third parties such as Meta and Google.
The deadline to submit a claim with the settlement is Sept. 11, 2024.
Chemtool plant fire $94.5M class action settlement
Chemtool agreed to pay $94.5 million in a class action settlement to resolve claims related to a 2021 plant fire.
The settlement benefits Illinois citizens who, on June 14, 2021, were owners or tenants of properties located within a 3-mile radius of the Chemtool Manufacturing Plant in Rockton, Illinois.
According to the class action lawsuit, the fire caused property damage and other harm for residents and property owners, who paid for cleanup, suffered the loss of value of their property and were unable to use their property as they normally would due to the smoke, dust and debris.

Gifted Healthcare data breach class action settlement
A Gifted Healthcare data breach settlement is accepting claims in September, allowing consumers to recover compensation for losses related to the 2021 cyberattack.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Nevada Restaurant Services could have implemented reasonable cybersecurity measures to prevent the January 2021 data breach. The cyberattack allegedly compromised sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, health insurance data and more.

$3.45M Nationwide Vision data breach class action settlement
Nationwide Vision agreed to pay $3.45 million to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2021 data breach that compromised patient and employee information.
The settlement benefits current and former patients, customers, employees, members and dependents of Nationwide Optometry, Nationwide Vision Center and Sightcare whose personal information may have been compromised in a data breach between April 20, 2021, and May 17, 2021.
According to the data breach class action lawsuit, Nationwide Vision and Sightcare failed to protect employee and patient information. As a result of this failure, hackers were allegedly able to gain access to sensitive information during a 2021 data breach.
The deadline to submit a claim with the settlement is Sept. 23, 2024.
$9.2M Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare C+Collagen class action settlement
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare agreed to pay $9.2 million to resolve claims its “C+Collagen” products do not actually contain collagen.
The settlement benefits consumers who purchased Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare “C+Collagen” products between March 10, 2016, and June 28, 2024.
According to the class action lawsuit, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare’s “C+Collagen” products do not actually contain collagen and instead only contain ingredients that support collagen production. Plaintiffs argue they were misled by the skincare brand’s naming and marketing surrounding these products.
