Get a Wendy’s Junior Bacon Cheeseburger for 1 Cent and Other Burger Day Deals

When you’re hungry, nothing hits the spot like a hamburger. Sunday, May 28, 2023, happens to be National Hamburger Day, and some of America’s biggest burger chains are getting in on the action — notably Wendy’s.

Beginning Friday, Wendy’s is selling junior bacon cheeseburgers for a penny — that’s right, a penny. They’re normally $3.39.

Just in time for a Memorial Day weekend snack, the deal starts on Friday and runs through Thursday, June 1.

The fine print here is, you have to order your 1-cent cheeseburger on the Wendy’s app, and you can do it only once. (Let’s face it, Wendy’s is just doing this to get its app installed on your phone. Still, a 1-cent bacon cheeseburger is as good a reason as any to download an app.) Wendy’s says the deal will automatically show up on the app.

To celebrate Hamburger Day, Wendy’s has some other deals going on:

• BOGO burgers: Buy a burger and get another burger for only $1, all month long in May.
• From Monday, May 29, to Sunday, June 4, customers get a free soft drink when they order via the Wendy’s app.

Other Restaurant Chains Celebrating Hamburger Day

Here’s a list of other national and regional burger chains that are offering deals for National Hamburger Day:

Burger King

From Friday, May 26, to Sunday, May 28, you can get a free hamburger at Burger King with any purchase of at least $1. We’re told you’ll be able to find this deal on the “Offers” page of Burger King’s app or website.

McDonald’s

Mickey D’s doesn’t have a National Burger Day deal, but it does have an ongoing special that runs through June 12. It’s a buy-one-get-one for $1 deal, and the offer includes the Big Mac, chicken nuggets or a Quarter Pounder with cheese.

Red Robin

If you join Red Robin’s customer loyalty program, Red Robin Royalty, you’ll get 50% off a burger or entree with the purchase of another burger or entree of equal or greater value. This deal is good for all of May, which is National Burger Month.

Wayback Burgers

This up-and-coming national chain is offering a particular deal only on Sunday, National Hamburger Day. If you order through Wayback Burgers’ app, you can get BOGO classic burgers — in other words, buy one classic burger and get a second one for free.

One final note: National Hamburger Day is not to be confused with another very important American holiday, National Cheeseburger Day. That happens every September. Look out for deals then, too.
